That Nightmare artwork in the beginning looks to be a borrowing from the SHOCK! catalog.
Great clip-- thanks, Gary!
Yes, that title-card art is inspired by the back cover illustration of the SHOCK! booklet.
Which Duane Eddy song is Rodney cranking out? He had top 100 hits from '58-'64... if we can name that tune, maybe we can date the clip...
the Duane Eddy tune is "The Lonely One" from 1958. it appears on the "Have 'Twangy' Guitar Will Travel" lp on the Jamie label, and of course on later compilations...
p.s. i love the fact you used Louise Allbritton for your profile photo...
Nice catch on "The Lonely One," prof.
It says here that "The Lonely One" was released as a single by Jamie records in 1959 (b-side= "Detour") and it charted in the Top 100 for thirteen weeks starting in January of that year.
Checking the listings, I see that "Nightmare" on Channel 10 in Wichita aired THE FROZEN GHOST at midnight on Saturday April 4, 1959.
Maybe that's the date of the clip?
strange, i keep seeing 1958 for the single release too- ah, the internet!...
